Zen Ceramic Matcha Set – Bowl, Whisk, Holder and Scoop

The Zen matcha set is exactly what it looks like: nothing more. No pattern, no decoration, nothing that is there just for show. Four pieces, each with one job: a ceramic bowl, a bamboo whisk, a whisk holder and a scoop.

A bowl with room for the whisk

The matcha bowl (chawan) holds 350 ml and has a wide base. The whisk needs that room: in a cup that is too narrow you won’t get a proper froth, however hard you try.

Why the set includes a whisk holder

On the holder (kusenaoshi) the matcha whisk dries with its tines facing down and keeps its shape. That decides whether the whisk lasts one year or five.

What’s in the set

• Matcha bowl (chawan) – ceramic, 350 ml, approx. 7.5 × 12 cm
• Bamboo whisk (chasen) – approx. 11 × 6 cm
• Whisk holder (kusenaoshi) – ceramic, keeps the whisk in shape
• Bamboo scoop (chashaku)

Matcha is not included. To drink it on its own, choose our ceremonial matcha; for a matcha latte, our culinary matcha.
